Genesis 11:4 “And they said, come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth”
It is a common fact that in unity lies strength. As the old Akan adage which when translated goes, “a united broom cannot be broken, but a single broom can easily be broken”. This shows the strength in unity. There is always a binding force that brings people together in unity. When you look at MOGPA, it is prayer and the quest to know God better that have brought together the hundreds of thousands of MOGPA faithfuls from all walks of life together under one umbrella. Much as people come together to unite because of a common goal, it is sad to realize that some come together in unity as a result of bad or ulterior motives. Some people have been lured into cultic groups and secret societies as a result of their quest for money and fame. Many societies and groups are springing up these days and the question is what is the main purpose of such unity. There are various ladies’ clubs springing up and it will shock you to hear some of the things they discuss at such meetings. Some of these clubs have contributed to many broken homes and many bad behaviours. As a child of God, you should always have Psalm 1 as your guide as to the type of group or association you should belong to. When the people came together in unity to build the tower of Babel, to them, it was for a good cause, but to God, it was not. That is why God scattered them throughout the surface of the earth and changed their language. Do you belong to any club or society? The first question you need to ask yourself is whether your unity is for a good cause or not. As a child of God, you must make sure that, before you join any union, ensure that the main reason for the establishment of such union is for a good cause; otherwise, do not join.
Confession for Today
I decree and declare that I will not belong to any society or association that does not seek to promote Christ or any good cause in Jesus’ name
