God never created man to be a loner. The Lord instituted the principle of companionship for man right from the beginning. He taught man the blessedness of profitable association as He the Almighty was coming to man in the cool of the day. This portrays God as a social being. Man also has this characteristic. Man is not expected to live in isolation.
That is why it is popularly said that no man is an island. God, in His wisdom, said in the beginning that it is not good for man to be alone (Genesis 2:18). God knows that two are always better than one in every affair of life. Jesus also underscored that when He sent out the disciples on evangelistic assignments. He sent them out two and two… (Luke 10:1). The importance of human relationships in every endeavour is non-negotiable in our contemporary world. Two people working together will achieve more than a single person facing the task alone. Greater productivity is enhanced by two people who are in collaboration. In time of any challenge or difficulty, it is easier to ask for help from a colleague or friend around.
But if a man is a loner, then how can he survive? The story is told of a young man in a certain village who felt he needed nobody’s help. He was a lone ranger who refused to assist anyone. Then there came a critical time in his own life too that he needed support, but he never got help from anybody. Are you a lone ranger? Do you think you are enough for yourself that you will never need anyone’s assistance? Two are better than one because of mutual comfort. In decision making and planning, two people will be able to accomplish more. In the face of tough times the world is experiencing at the moment, it will be difficult for a loner to survive. It is a great wisdom not to be a lone ranger in the journey of life.
