Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go”.
You cannot live the victorious lifestyle that God wants you to live as His child whilst entertaining fear in your life. You are to banish fear from your life and live by faith at all times. From today’s scripture, we see God telling Joshua to be strong, and courageous and free his mind from fear. God specifically warned Joshua against fear because God knew that fear is the effective instrument of demons to bring people into bondage. Demons are not as powerful as we think. When Jesus died on the cross, it was for the defeat of demons. The Bible says in Colossians 1:15, “Having spoilt principality and power, he made show of them openly triumphing over them in it.” So, Jesus defeated the devil, but the devil relies on our fears to get across to us. The effective weapon of demons to bring anybody into bondage is fear.
That is why the Bible says that fear has torments; and the scripture also says that we have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear. This means that, when we allow fear, it becomes the police of Satan that go all around to arrest people and bring them into bondage, into prison. In the battle array of demons or Satan, the spirit of fear goes ahead of all other soldiers of Satan. The spirit of fear is that demon that paves way for others to come into the life of a person. When you allow fear to dominate you, you will not be able to enjoy the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Many people have been stopped on their way into destiny by the spirit of fear. Some are even afraid to rebuke Satan because they think that, if they do, Satan will attack them.
This is as a result of the work of the spirit of fear. For some, because they have rebuked demons at a particular time in prayer and later saw strange demonic attacks in the night, they stopped such prayer. That is the spirit of fear at work in you. No wonder the Bible says, ‘fear not’ over 300 places in the Scripture. Fear not! Your fear is the strength that demon relies on to access your life.
