Proverbs 3:6 “In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.”
To stay focused on the essential, remember that: (1) people who pursue specific goals are always looking to improve their methods. What you have accomplished in the past will not necessarily help you achieve your future goals. A family had just moved to a neighborhood in the city. Two or three days later, the six-year-old girl missed the school bus and her dad decided to accompany her to school on condition that she could show him the way. After walking for more than twenty minutes, and making numerous detours, they finally arrived in front of the school which was, in fact, a few hundred meters from their house.
The father, frustrated by the waste of time, asked the little girl why she had made him take all these detours since her school was so close to their house. “Daddy, I just followed the route the bus takes,” cried the child, “I don’t know any other way!” (2) Such people learn to concentrate a little longer and deeper than others. Hank Aaron, one of baseball’s most famous players, once said: “The difference between a superstar and a quality player is the former’s ability to concentrate just a little longer than anyone else. Concentration is the art of pushing aside distractions and getting rid of the clutter of meaningless ideas that clutter our minds in order to think clearly. (3) Such people make commitments that they will keep, rather than inventing excuses.
A frame, placed on the desk of a company’s director, announces: “The secrecy surrounding my position does not allow me to know what I am doing here!” In reality, if you do not really know what you are doing, you risk becoming very bitter and frustrated by your continued failures. This is why it is so important to constantly pray, asking God to point you in the right direction. “Acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will make your paths straight.”
Confession for Today
I decree and declare to stay focused on my life’s goals at all times in the mighty name of Jesus.
