Confession for Today

I decree and declare to make seeking God my topmost priority in life; in the mighty name of Jesus.

One thing which should be the utmost priority of every believer is to seek God first in all things and at all times. The story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38-42 is a captivating tale that teaches us valuable lessons about priorities and staying grounded in our faith. In the story, we see Martha focusing on serving and being distracted by many tasks while Mary sits at the feet of Jesus, soaking up His words. This reminds us to prioritize spending time with God over the busyness of life. We can all relate to Martha’s busyness at times, feeling overwhelmed by responsibilities and distractions. However, it is crucial to remember the importance of pausing, like Mary did, to sit at the feet of Jesus and find rest in Him.

By seeking His presence first, we can gain clarity and strength to navigate through life’s challenges. It is sad to realize that some people go to church and become very much engulfed in every activity possible but not when comes to listening to the Word of God.  As we encounter situations where we feel pulled in different directions, let us remember the example of Mary by choosing what is truly important; that is, building a deep relationship with God. Proverbs 3:5- 6 encourages us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding; in all our ways, submit to Him, and He will make our paths straight.

In times of uncertainty or stress, may we find comfort in these words from Matthew 11:28 – Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Let us take inspiration from Mary’s devotion and choose to center our lives on Christ, finding peace and strength as we walk alongside Him.
