Ruth 1:14 “Then they lifted up their voices and wept again; and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth clung to her

Parting company with something close or dear to you is not always easy. But sometimes in life, it is very necessary to part company. Noami, after losing her husband Elimelech and her two sons Mahlon and Chilion, decided to leave Moab for her country. When she decided to leave, she wanted to leave her two daughters in law Orpah and Ruth behind in Moab. Whilst Ruth was determined to go with Naomi, Orpah kissed her a bye and left. Sometimes in life, we should be prepared to part company with some friends, a particular place or group in order to move on. Naomi felt the need to return to her home country and start life afresh and didn’t need anything that will draw her back. The commitments of her daughters-in-law were put to the test when she insisted on three occasions that they return to their families and remarry. Orpah decided to let go and parted company, but Ruth resolved to go with her no matter what. What are the things in your life you need to kiss a goodbye to? You need to check yourself and see that not all the people around you are worth keeping. Orpah wanted the easy way out of life and was not prepared to go all the way with Naomi. Some friends are only around you because of the good times or things they get from you. So far as things are going on well, they are your friends, but when things change, then their real behaviour comes to the fore. You should take good assessments of your life and kiss a goodbye to anything that is not worth keeping. As a believer, you should note that not all companies or behaviours are worth keeping. Orpah was not willing to go all the way with Naomi and so, kissed her a goodbye. Identify the people around you or some behaviour of yours which is not worth keeping and do not hang unto them in your life.

Confession for Today

I decree and declare to say a bye to anything that seeks to derail me from my vision and not hang onto it in the mighty name of Jesus.
